Railway Concession For Senior Citizen: The Supreme Court has rejected the petition demanding restoration of exemption in rail fare of senior citizens. A bench of Justice SK Kaul and Justice Ehsanuddin Amanullah dismissed the petition. The bench said that it is not appropriate for the court to issue guidelines in this regard.
The government will have to take a decision on this. This petition was filed in the Supreme Court by EK Balakrishnan. While hearing the petition, the court said that under Article 32 of the Constitution, it would not be appropriate for the court to issue orders to the government as per the petition.
