Railway Station Name Change: Big news! Soon the names of Branded Railway Stations will change, know what is being prepared

India Railway News: Indian Railways has issued guidelines for co-branding of names of railway stations. Co-branding means that the name of the corporate brand will be added to the name of the station.

However, the original name of the station will remain the same in the timetable, ticket announcements and route map. According to Indian Railways, the objective of co-branding is to increase non-fare revenue.

New Delhi: In the coming days, you may get to see commercial branding on Indian Railways stations. Indian Railways has issued guidelines for co-branding the names of railway stations. According to the guidelines, the branding of the advertising company will be at every place in the station premises, where the name of the station is written. Co-branding means that the brand name will be added to the station name. This name can be added before and after the name of the station. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been doing this for years.

Now branding ‘station names’ will be seen everywhere

After this branding, now you will see the names of the brands along with the station name on the station entry and also inside the station. However, the original name of the station will remain the same in the timetable, ticket announcements and route map. One thing to be noted here is that no co-branding will be done on Heritage Buildings or stations which are named after a popular personality.

Co-branding guidelines

  • There will be co-branding only on the board with the name of the station.
  • The official name of the station will not change.
  • Showing of surrogate or banned advertisements will not be allowed.
  • Not more than two words shall be appended to the name of the station.
  • The co-branding will be in a different colour.
  • The words co-branding can be replaced with the logo of the brand.
The purpose of co-branding is to increase revenue

According to Indian Railways, the purpose of co-branding is to increase non-fare revenue. While co-branding, care will be taken that there is no advertisement of any political, religious, alcoholic or tobacco company. No person’s name will be used for co-branding. So the next time you go to a railway station, pay attention to whether co-branding has started or not.
