Public holidays announced on 27 and 28 August: Offices, schools and banks will remain closed in this state

The festive season is in full swing in Chhattisgarh and along with this the news of holidays has also brought smiles on people’s faces.

The state government has declared public and local holidays on 26, 27 and 28 August, due to which government offices, banks, schools and colleges will remain completely closed for these three days. This series of holidays has been declared in view of Teej, Ganesh Chaturthi and Nuakhai festivals to be celebrated next week.

As per government order:

  • August 26: Hartalika Teej
  • August 27: Ganesh Chaturthi
  • August 28: Nuakhai (local holiday)

Due to these three festivals, work in schools and offices will be done only on 25th, 29th and 30th August. The remaining three days will be continuous holidays, due to which there is an atmosphere of excitement especially among children and government employees.

Schools, banks and offices will remain closed

According to the order, these three days: –

  • All government departments
  • – Government and private banks will remain closed
  • Schools, colleges and other educational institutionswill remain completely closed. This week children will have to go to school only for three days, that is, less than half of the week.

Holiday on Navakhai, change on Ashtami

While on one hand a local holiday has been declared on August 28 on the occasion of Navakhai festival, on the other hand the government has cancelled the previously declared holiday on Durga Ashtami falling on September 30. In a new order from the General Administration Department, it was made clear that the holiday on Ashtami will no longer be valid.

The markets are bustling with activity and preparations are in full swing.

For festivals like Teej, Ganesh Chaturthi and Navakhai, brisk shopping and decorations are being witnessed in the markets across the state. There is an increase in the demand for Puja materials, Ganesh idols and traditional clothes. From the general public to the administration, everyone is busy in preparations for these festivals.
