Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana completes 10 years : Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana will enter its 10th year from tomorrow. This ambitious scheme of PM Modi was started on 28 August 2014. At the same time, money from projects like Kisan Samman Nidhi and NREGA and MNREGA also kept reaching people’s accounts directly. That too was possible because of this Jan Dhan account.
Bank accounts opened with zero balance
In 2014, when Narendra Modi’s government was formed, the first decision taken was how to connect the common man to the banking system. The government came forward for this and started the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. Through which the bank account of the poorest of the poor people could be opened with zero balance. After this, the benefits of social security schemes are also being directly delivered to the beneficiaries through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT).
The aim was to include everyone in the banking system
The aim of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was to include the underprivileged sections of the country who did not have access to banks in the banking system. Through this, savings bank accounts of these people are to be opened, the way to provide loans to them is made easy and insurance and pension facilities are to be ensured. Under the scheme, the government has given such a facility to those who open accounts that they can open their accounts in the bank with zero balance. There was no need for any identifier for this. According to the government data, the number of its beneficiaries has now become more than 52.39 crores.
Accident insurance of one lakh and life cover of 30 thousand
You will clearly know the difference between Jan Dhan accounts and normal bank savings accounts. In such a situation, let us tell you that interest is received on the amount deposited in the Jan Dhan account. Accident insurance of one lakh rupees and life cover of 30 thousand rupees are also available in the Jan Dhan Yojana. There is no limit on keeping minimum balance in the Jan Dhan account. In Jan Dhan Yojana, the beneficiary also gets an overdraft facility of Rs 10,000 in the account. Along with this, after opening the Jan Dhan account, the beneficiary also gets a RuPay debit card. Apart from this, you can also open a Jan Dhan account in the post office apart from the bank. For this, it is necessary to have a PAN card and Aadhar card. Along with this, Jan Dhan account can also be opened through online medium.
Celebrating completion of a decade
Now that this scheme is about to complete 10 years, the completion of a decade of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is being celebrated. More than 2.30 lakh crores deposited
On behalf of the government, Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary had also told in Parliament that the number of bank accounts opened under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana has crossed 52 crores. With this, the total deposit amount in Jan Dhan accounts has exceeded Rs 2.30 lakh crore.
