The number of Jan Dhan accounts has now tripled. The number of accounts was 14.72 crore in March 2015, which has now increased to 42.76 crore by 21 July 2021. One of the ambitious schemes of the Modi government, PM Jan Dhan Yojana has been well liked by the general public. The Department of Financial Services tweeted that the amount deposited in PMJDY accounts has achieved manifold growth since inception (from Rs 15,670 crore in March 15 to Rs 145,551 crore as on March 21). This is a big testament to the success of the financial inclusion programme.

1. In this you will get accidental insurance cover up to Rs 2 lakh.
2. If you have a Jan Dhan account, you can withdraw an additional Rs 10,000 from your account through overdraft.
3. You will get interest on the deposit.
4. Free mobile banking facility will also be provided.
5. Life cover up to Rs.30,000, which is available after the death of the account holder on fulfillment of certain conditions.
6. The facility of RuPay Debit Card is given, from which you can withdraw money from the account and also make purchases.
7. After Jan Dhan, you can open an account for pension in schemes like PM Kisan and Shramyogi Maandhan.
8. It is easy to buy insurance, pension products through Jan Dhan account.
9. You get the facility of transfer of money across the country.
10. The money of government schemes comes directly into the account.

Convert Savings Account to Jan Dhan

If you have an old bank account, then you can easily get it changed in Jan Dhan account. For this you have to apply for Rupay card by visiting the bank branch. After this, your bank account will be converted into Jan Dhan Yojana as soon as you fill a form. At the same time, if you want to open your new Jan Dhan account, for this you have to fill a form in the bank. Name, mobile number, bank branch name, applicant’s address, nominee, occupation / employment and annual income and number of dependents, SSA code or ward number, village code or town code, etc. will have to be given in it.
