New Delhi. The government’s PM Jan Dhan Yojana has completed 7 years. The general public has liked this scheme of the government a lot. The number of accounts opened under this scheme has tripled in a few years.


The Department of Financial Services (DFS) has given information about this by tweeting. It is written in the tweet that the accounts of PM Jan Dhan Yojana have increased three times. Let us tell you that the number of accounts has increased from 14.72 crore in March 2015 to 43 crore accounts so far.

Many facilities are available in PM Jan Dhan Yojana

This world’s biggest financial inclusion initiative has opened the doors of banks to the poor people and has given them the new power of Jan Dhan account passbook and Rupay card. Under this scheme, after opening the account, everyone is given the facility of cheap insurance, pension and other financial products.

Get the benefit of 2.30 lakhs

Jan Dhan account holders are given a benefit of Rs 2.30 lakh. Accidental insurance cover is given to Jan Dhan account holders on opening an account in any bank. Accidental insurance of Rs 1,00,000 and general insurance of Rs 30,000 is given to the account holders. If the account holder dies in an accident, then he is given Rs 2 lakh. In this context, the Jan Dhan account holder can get up to Rs 2.30 lakh.

How to open account


Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the account is opened more in public sector banks. But, if you want, you can also open your Jan Dhan account in a private bank. If you have any other savings account then you can convert it to Jan Dhan account also. Any citizen residing in India, whose age is 10 years or more, can open a Jan Dhan account.

Which documents will be required

To open a Jan Dhan account, document verification is done under KYC. Jan Dhan account can be opened using these documents. Aadhar Card, Pan Card, Driving License, Voter ID Card, Passport, MNREGA Job Card.

Accounts can be opened in these banks

Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), the account is opened more in public sector banks. You can open Jan Dhan account in any government bank. But, if you want, you can also open your Jan Dhan account in a private bank.
