Paytm has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) powered sound box. At a conference in Mumbai, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma stated that Paytm is seeing a lot of AI innovation in 2025 and that Paytm itself is shifting towards AI.
Along with the launch of the AI-powered Soundbox, Vijay Shekhar Sharma also said that the company may launch a separate brand for AI tools. He cited Amazon as an example, noting that while Amazon’s Prime service is for premium offerings, Prime has now become a standalone brand.

What is Paytm AI Soundbox?
You may have seen soundboxes with QR codes as a payment solution in stores. Payments are made by scanning the QR code with your mobile phone. Paytm and PhonePe boxes are visible in most shops.
Paytm’s new AI Soundbox features a built-in AI assistant. It supports 11 local languages. It provides real-time question answers. It offers features ranging from payments to money tracking for merchants.
It features a dedicated button that merchants or shopkeepers can press to ask questions related to transactions. It also features a built-in screen. According to Paytm, the AI Soundbox’s AI assistant and screen will enable merchants to easily manage their businesses.
The Paytm AI Soundbox is Android-based and uses two displays. Payments can be made by tapping a card or using a QR code.
Paytm has also stated that it is preparing to introduce several AI-first products, starting with the AI Soundbox. The AI Soundbox could be helpful for small businesses, as merchants will be able to access complete accounting information simply by speaking.
