PAN Card Holders: New update came! Paid a fine of Rs 1000 but not linked PAN-Aadhaar? do this immediately

PAN Card Update: It is very important to link PAN card with Aadhaar card. It has been said many times by the government about linking PAN card with Aadhaar card. Earlier, the last date for linking PAN and Aadhaar was 31 March 2023. However, now this date has been extended by the government till June 30, 2023. In such a situation, people can now link PAN card with Aadhaar card till 30 June 2023.

On the other hand, if PAN card is to be linked with Aadhaar card, then a fine will also have to be paid for it. At present, a fine of Rs 1000 is being charged for linking PAN and Aadhaar. At the same time, people are also facing this problem many times that even after paying a fine of Rs 1000, PAN is not being linked to Aadhaar.


If the PAN card and Aadhaar card are not linked even after paying a fine of Rs 1000, then this work should be done immediately.

  • The Income Tax Department website states that payments made on e-pay tax/NSDL (Protean) may take a few days to reflect on the e-filing portal. Therefore, taxpayers are advised to try to make the PAN-Aadhaar linking request after 4-5 days of making the payment.
  • The challan details will also be updated in 26AS. If you are still not able to submit the request, you should check whether the payment is made under minor head code 500 or not. If yes, you can register a complaint or contact the helpdesk.
  • You will not get refund after paying fees by mistake under minor head 500. The department says that there is no provision for refund of fee paid under section 234H for late linking of PAN-Aadhaar under minor head 500.
  • In case of failure of Aadhaar-PAN linking after payment, you will not have to pay the fee again. The department says that the same challan can be considered while re-submitting the Aadhaar-PAN linking request.
  • If you have linked a wrong Aadhaar with your PAN and subsequently got your Aadhaar delinked, you will have to pay the fee again for submitting a fresh PAN-Aadhaar linking request.
  • The Income Tax Department says that users should correct their details in the PAN or Aadhaar database to ensure that the match between the two is correct.
  • PAN details can be corrected on TIN-NSDL website or PAN online portal of UTIISL. Correction in Aadhaar details can be done on the UIDAI website.
