If someone has Aadhar card then he can get PAN card without any cost. PAN card will be issued immediately using Aadhaar based KYC.


Steps to apply PAN without Aadhar e-KYC

  • Visit the new Income Tax Portal and go to Instant PAN here.
  • This facility provides e-PAN on almost real time basis and it comes in PDF format.
  • Then click on e-PAN.
  • Through this facility, the user can get e-PAN in PDF format on almost real time basis.
  • Now enter your Aadhar number and check the box which says I confirm it and Income Tax Department will ask for your consent for the following points.
  • I have never been allotted PAN.
  • My active mobile number is linked with Aadhaar.
  • The complete details of my birth are available on the basis.
  • I am not a minor as on the date of application of Permanent Account Number.
  • After this an OTP will be received on your registered mobile number.
  • After this a 15 digit acknowledgment number will be generated. Now a copy of your newly created PAN card will be sent to the email ID linked to your Aadhar card.
  • Keep in mind that this process may take a few days. At the same time, one can check the status of PAN using the acknowledgment number in the new income tax portal.


How to check the status of instant PAN application

Use the acknowledgment number to track the status of your PAN application. Click on the link ‘Instant PAN through Aadhaar’ and click on ‘Check PAN status’ link. After submitting the Aadhaar number, enter the OTP received on the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar number. Finally, check the PAN application status.
