Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday said that he has not entered politics to check the prices of ‘potato, tomato’. No-confidence motion was brought in Parliament by the opposition against Imran Khan. Responding to this, Imran Khan said this in his clarification. Addressing a political rally in Punjab province’s Hafizabad town, Khan said the country will stand against elements who are trying to topple his government by “using money to buy the conscience of MLAs”.
Imran said that during the rest of his tenure, Pakistan is going to become a great country. The cricketer-turned-politician said that 25 years ago, he decided to enter politics for the sake of the youth of the country. He said that by doing this he did not get any personal benefit as he already had everything a person dreams of in life.
Khan, president of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, said, “I did not join politics to know the prices of ‘aloo and tomato’ (potatoes and tomatoes). I have joined it for the sake of the youth of the country.” “If we want to be a great nation, we have to support the truth, and this is what I have been saying for the last 25 years,” Khan said.
Khan’s statement has come when the United Opposition Front has presented a no-confidence motion against him a few days back. Khan also said that it is the responsibility of the state and the judiciary to stop those “corrupt” and “guilty” politicians who are trying to “bring down the state” through horse-trading. He said that people will see that those who are trying to remove him from office will be burdened by their own conspiracy.
