Online Shopping: Festive Art for E-Commerce Platforms

Online Shopping | Small businesses, emerging brands, weavers, artisans selling their products on e-commerce websites .. surveyed whether you buy. About 80 per cent said they would buy it, while 10 per cent said they were not interested.

Businesses have been hit hard by the coronavirus epidemic. Normal conditions are now prevailing around the world. Businesses expect sales to grow as the festive season approaches in India. According to a survey conducted by a company called Local Circles, about 61 percent of consumers say they want to spend this festive season. The survey found that 51 per cent of them just decided to shop on e-commerce platforms. The company surveyed 300,000 consumers in 330 districts across India.

Consumer interest in shopping has increased now compared to last year’s figures. In 2019, only 27 percent of consumers opted for e-commerce sites for purchases during the festive season. Now that number is set to rise to 51 percent. Looking at festive purchases, the number of users opting for e-commerce platforms has increased by 89 per cent, according to a Local Circles survey. Nearly three per cent of those surveyed said they would spend more than Rs 50,000 this festive season. 14 per cent said they would spend between Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000. Another 44 per cent said they would spend between Rs 1,000 and Rs 10,000. 12 per cent said they did not know how much to spend and 27 per cent said they would not spend. The local circles believe that these figures will be useful in calculating the festival expenses recorded in the country during this season.



Which path to choose

When asked what route to choose for festive shopping, 26 per cent said they would shop through e-commerce sites and apps. 11 per cent said they would get home delivery from local retail outlets. 25 per cent said they would go to local shops, e-commerce sites, 24 per cent to malls, local retailers and markets. 14 percent said no. According to the Local Circles survey, about 51 per cent of consumers will shop through e-commerce platforms this year.

Interested in what?

Consumers were asked in the survey what kind of products they were interested in. About 15 per cent of them buy smartphones and electronic products. Another 19 percent said they buy household products such as AC, heater and vacuum cleaner. 11% choose furniture and 8% choose fashion products. A maximum of 32 per cent said they would buy groceries and goods. Four percent said they would choose other products. 11 percent said nothing. When asked if they choose e-commerce sites for gifts … 37 percent said yes and 39 percent said no. 24 percent said no.

Why Online Shopping?

A local circle survey asked consumers why they prefer to shop online. 15 per cent said it was for safety, 11 per cent for convenience and 8 per cent for good products. Two per cent said it was for selection. Five per cent said it was for returns and a refund option. 58 percent said it was for all the above benefits. Many people tend to shop online for reasons such as crowded markets, people who do not wear masks and people who do not follow social distance.

Interest in handicrafts and handloom products

Buy food products?

Also surveyed on buying food items online for the festive season. About 18 percent said they buy bakery products and sweets from reputable local stores. 13 percent said they would order dry fruit‌, fruit gift boxes. Four percent said they bought flowers. 33% said they would choose bakery products, sweets as well as dry feet‌ and fruit gift boxes. Two per cent said they would order dry fruit and fruit gift boxes along with flowers. Another 30 percent said they would buy all of the above. According to a survey conducted in cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Noida, Gurugram and Kolkata, nearly 60 per cent of consumers choose online platforms for festive shopping. Based on these figures, local circles say that e-commerce companies are getting huge orders this festive season.
