Old Pension Scheme: Good news for employees, old pension scheme will be applicable in this state also

Maharashtra Govt: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a committee of senior officers to look into the demand of restoring the old pension scheme (OPS) of state employees. Let’s know the complete details about it.


The demand to implement the old pension scheme in the country is continuously increasing. Recently, when the State Government Employees Association (KSGEA) raised its demand regarding the demand for old pension in Karnataka, the state government had to announce relief to the employees.

The Bommai government of Karnataka announced to increase the basic pay of the employees by 17 percent. Apart from this, a committee was formed here to implement the old pension.

Announcement of a committee of senior officers

In Maharashtra, a big announcement has been made on behalf of the state government employees being vocal about the demand for old pension scheme. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a committee of senior officers to look into the demand for restoration of the old pension scheme (OPS) of state employees. The employee unions have decided to go on strike. Officials told that the committee will submit its report in due time.

The work of the administration will be affected by the strike.

Chief Minister Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis (appealed to the government employees not to go on strike. The strike may affect the functioning of the administration. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shinde, in which Fadnavis, the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and the Council Ajit respectively Pawar and Ambadas Danve, Chief Secretary Manu Kumar Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Manoj Saunik and representatives of various organizations of state government employees participated.

Shinde said in the meeting that no plan or strategy has been presented by the states implementing OPS. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has expressed support for the reinstatement of OPS as has been done by the (Bhagwant Mann) government in Punjab.
