Ola-Uber Bike Taxi: Once again you will see Ola Uber running on the streets of Delhi. The Lieutenant Governor has approved the Delhi Government’s Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme 2023. Notification will be issued soon.

The way has been cleared for running bike taxis in Delhi. The Lieutenant Governor has approved the Delhi Government’s Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme 2023. The Transport Department will issue its notification soon. Under the policy, app-based taxi service provider companies (Ola-Uber) will have to obtain a license to operate. Apart from this, it will also be mandatory for companies involved in delivery services (Zumato, Swiggy, Amazon) to obtain license.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had approved the aggregator scheme on October 18 last month and sent it to LG. LG has given it the green signal. It will be mandatory for app-based taxi and delivery service provider companies like Ola, Uber, Jumato, Swiggy to obtain license within 90 days of the issuance of the notification. Those whose fleet will include 25 or more motor vehicles (two, three and four wheelers, excluding buses) will have to obtain a license.

GPS and panic button facilities will be mandatory

Approval was given to run bike taxis in Delhi, but it will be only electric bike taxis. Apart from this, provision has also been made for schemes like Rent a Bike, which already runs in cities like Goa and Haridwar. Under this scheme, after obtaining the license, it will be mandatory to install GPS in all vehicles for safety reasons. Panic button facility will also have to be provided inside the passenger taxi.

Passenger safety will be priority

Strict rules have been made regarding app based taxi service provider companies. Special care has been taken for the safety of passengers. There will be a 24 hours 7 days control room. Every complaint will have to be resolved. The GPS location of the taxi will have to be shared with the transport department.

Milestone in the fight against pollution

Delhi government says that the Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme 2023 will prove to be a milestone in Delhi’s fight against air pollution. The aggregators policy mandates the commercial vehicle fleet of delivery service providers and e-commerce entities to convert to zero-emission electric vehicles in a time-bound manner. Under this scheme, all aggregators in Delhi will have to electrify their entire fleet by 2030. There will be no fee for those taking licenses with electric vehicles.
