Fake PAN and Aadhaar cards were created using Google’s new AI tool, Gemini Nano Banana Pro. The tool was creating authentic-looking ID cards. Harveen Singh Chadha, an X user working at Sarvam AI, shared a photo created with Google Nano Banana Pro that is shocking people. He used Google’s Nano Banana Pro tool to create PAN and Aadhaar cards for a fictitious person, Twiteerpreet Singh. These cards appeared completely real. However, if you look closely, you can see a small white diamond-shaped Gemini logo in the bottom right corner. This logo can be removed using various apps or tools. He shared both photos in a tweet.
Difficult to distinguish between fake and real
However, removing the SynthID in an image is a bit difficult, as it is hidden in the image’s metadata. This logo is so small that it would be difficult for anyone to see it. At a glance, these PAN and Aadhaar cards will appear to be genuine. These fake IDs will be difficult to spot by receptionists at private hotels or at airports when entering non-digital travel. This could increase fraudulent activities.
Fake PAN cards can no longer be created.
After this news surfaced, Google immediately disabled the option to create any type of government identification card on the Gemini website and app. According to media reports, if Nano Banana Pro is asked to create such a document, it responds, “It cannot create official documents like PAN cards, even for a fictional character.” Google, taking this incident seriously, deemed it necessary to immediately disable it.
