No need to fill old age pension forms in UP, Yogi government’s big decision

0

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a major decision regarding old age pensions. In a cabinet meeting held on Friday, the government announced that there is no longer a need to fill out forms for old age pensions.

The Uttar Pradesh government made a major decision regarding old-age pensions during its cabinet meeting on Friday. Under this decision, old-age pensions will now be available in the state without filling out a form. This pension will be given to every family member over the age of 60. Currently, 67.50 lakh elderly people are receiving this pension.

This is how the government will identify old age beneficiaries

It was announced at the meeting that under the One Family, One Identity scheme, the government will have data on every family over 60 years of age. Old-age pensions will be provided based on this data. In addition to old-age pensions, several other important decisions have been taken in the state.

Social Welfare Minister (Independent Charge) Asim Arun said that under the ‘One Family, One Identity’ system, beneficiaries will be automatically identified through the family identity card and pension will be sanctioned after the consent of the beneficiary.

The amount will be transferred to the bank account linked to Aadhaar.

Aseem Arun said the system will digitally track individuals approaching 60 years of age and initiate the consent process via SMS, WhatsApp, or phone call. Where digital consent is not obtained, officials or local assistants will contact beneficiaries in person.

Asim Arun said that pension approval will be completed within 15 days of consent, and payments will be deposited directly into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. The cabinet also approved amendments to the Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962, to extend its scope to the entire state, including rural areas. Labor Minister Anil Rajbhar said the revised framework will ensure comprehensive labor protection without imposing additional burdens on small establishments.

The proposal to simplify tenancy rules was also approved.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal to simplify tenancy rules by waiving stamp duty and registration fees for rental agreements of up to 10 years. This move aims to encourage written and registered rental contracts and reduce disputes arising from informal agreements. Accordingly, the stamp duty on rental agreements of up to ₹2 lakh for one year has been reduced to ₹500, the statement said.
