Liquor shops in several other areas, including Jahangirpuri, Shahdara and Mayur Vihar in the capital, had offered discounts of up to 35 per cent on certain brands.

An employee of a liquor shop in East Delhi said that liquor shops have to exhaust their stock by the end of March as the license will be renewed in the new financial year. He said, “There are also some brands which are not sold. Retailers are offering discounts and special offers on these like ‘buy one, get one free’. Efforts are on to clear the stock in this manner.”
