In view of the Corona epidemic, the government has taken an important decision regarding driving license, registration certificate and fitness certificate. According to this decision, now the validity of these existing documents has been extended till 30 September. Here existing means that even if your driving license has expired, it can still run till September 30 without renewing it. The same rule applies to vehicle registration certificate and fitness certificate of the vehicle.
Regarding this order, the Union Transport Ministry has directed the traffic police system to accept these documents without any hesitation till the end of September, even if they have expired. However, these rules are not related to all documents of vehicles. What Nitin Gadkari said
The central government has asked the states and union territories to ensure that the new guidelines are followed and people whose papers have expired do not face any kind of harassment in movement. It is clear from the order that the police or administration cannot harass anyone in the name of expired papers.
In this regard, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that under the Motor Auto Act, 1988, the validity of paperwork has been extended till September 30, 2021. According to Nitin Gadkari, all kinds of paperwork will come in this, in which the expiry of the document is going to be from February 1, 2020 to September 13, 2021. Law enforcement agencies (police) are directed to treat such paperwork as valid till September 13, 2021.
Order was issued last year also
In view of the Corona epidemic last year, the Ministry of Transport had issued a similar order. Last year, these papers were given a deferment till December 31. Later it was extended till February. Before December 31, the government had extended this rule twice and till March 30 and June 9. Last time also the government did not include pollution certificate in these documents. This time also it has been excluded. The documents related to pollution will have to be updated at all times.
Generally, if someone is caught without a driving license under the Motor Vehicle Act, there is a fine of Rs 5,000. Now this fine will continue to be relieved. Getting a driving license is a complicated task and it takes up to 2 months.
