We often assume that if someone does not have an Aadhaar card, passport or PAN card, it will be difficult to prove his identity and citizenship. But the truth is that Indian citizenship does not depend only on these three documents.
There are laws and many other options behind it, through which any person can prove his Indian identity.
Only Aadhaar and PAN are not necessary
The foundation of proving citizenship in India is based on the Citizenship Act, 1955. According to this law, if a person is born in India and his parents are Indians, or he has acquired citizenship by living here for a long time, then he will be considered an Indian citizen. That is, only Aadhaar, PAN and passport are not necessary for identification.
Citizenship can be proved by other things
If someone does not have these necessary identity cards, then he can prove citizenship with the help of other government and local documents, such as birth certificate, school or college records, voter ID card, ration card, electricity-water bill, house registry papers, certificate issued by Panchayat or Municipal Corporation, even documents related to government job or service can also be proof of citizenship.
You can take help from local administration
Many times it happens that a person does not have any of these documents. In such situations, the local administration helps. Citizenship can also be proved by getting a certificate from the tehsil, municipal corporation or panchayat. In many cases, old school registers, hospital records, even the recommendation of the village head or municipality are also accepted as evidence. The court or investigating agency can also record the testimony of witnesses and neighbors.
Many such rules have been made by the government so that every citizen can easily prove his identity and there is no problem. This is the reason why the age limit for birth certificate has also been abolished, that is, any person can get a birth certificate made at any time.
