Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off the Nanded-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express train through video conference on 26 August 2025. He described it as a path to prosperity for the Marathwada region. The ceremony took place from the State Secretariat in Mumbai, while a formal program was held at Nanded Railway Station. Fadnavis said that this train will reduce the distance between Nanded and Mumbai.
This is Marathwada’s first Vande Bharat train connecting Nanded and Mumbai. This train is very beneficial for common passengers, devotees, officials and businessmen. Also, it is convenient for those visiting religious and tourist places.
This train is fully air conditioned and carries passengers to important places with high speed, safety and comfort. This train is an extension of the already running 20706/20705 CSMT-Jalna-CSMT Vande Bharat Express.
This train covers the distance of 610 km in about nine and a half hours. Earlier, the fastest train between Mumbai and Nanded was Devgiri Express, which covered this distance in 11 hours and 20 minutes. But now this Vande Bharat train completes this journey in about two hours less time. This will save time of the passengers and make the journey easier.
This train runs six days a week. It departs from Nanded at 5 am on all days except Wednesday and reaches Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai at 2:25 pm. On the return journey, train number 20706 departs from Mumbai at 1:10 pm on all days except Thursday and reaches Nanded at 10:50 pm. This timing is very convenient for passengers.
This train stops at a total of eight stations. These stations are – Parbhani, Jalna, Aurangabad, Manmad, Nasik Road, Kalyan, Thane and Dadar. This allows people from nearby areas to reach Mumbai easily.
The train has 20 coaches with a total of 1440 seats. There are two types of seats in it – AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car. The fare of AC Chair Car from Nanded to Mumbai is Rs 1610, while the fare of Executive Chair Car is Rs 2930.
This train is not only fast, but also has Wi-Fi, comfortable seats and modern facilities. It will make travelling between Nanded and Mumbai even better.
