Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway Toll Price: Toll rates have been announced for the expressway being built between Lucknow and Kanpur. NHAI stated that those with annual passes will have to pay a one-way toll of ₹15, while regular vehicles will have to pay ₹125.

Uttar Pradesh is the only state in the country with the largest number of expressways. Currently, work is underway on two expressways. One of these, though small, has been needed for many years. Construction has now begun and is expected to be completed soon. The National Highway Authority has stated that a toll of just 15 rupees can be paid on this expressway. This will also alleviate current traffic jams and make the journey faster.

We’re talking about the expressway being built between Lucknow and Kanpur. This 90-kilometer expressway is so significant that it will ease travel between Uttar Pradesh’s two major cities. Currently, it takes about three hours to travel between the two cities, as the highway is often fraught with traffic jams. NHAI has stated that once this expressway is complete, it will take only one hour to travel from Lucknow to Kanpur.

Regarding the toll amount,

NHAI stated that a typical one-way toll on this expressway is approximately ₹125. If an annual pass is issued, the toll will be only ₹15 per one-way trip. However, commercial vehicles operating on this expressway will not be exempt from the toll. Annual passes for commercial vehicles have not yet been implemented.

How much is the toll currently charged?

NHAI has stated that to travel from Lucknow to Kanpur, one must currently travel via the national highway. The toll on this highway will be charged one and a quarter times the toll charged on the new expressway. NHAI also believes that after the expressway opens, 95% of the non-commercial vehicles currently plying on the highway will shift to it. This will obviously alleviate traffic jams on the highway and prevent traffic jams on the expressway as well.

How much will traffic be reduced?

Once this expressway is built between Lucknow and Kanpur, traffic on the existing highway will be reduced by 50 to 60 percent. Those who travel daily between the two cities will only need to obtain annual passes. NHAI believes that this expressway will be able to handle the traffic load for 50 years. The six-lane expressway is expected to carry approximately 40,000 vehicles daily.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has designed this expressway to expand from six lanes to eight lanes if traffic increases in the future. Traffic on the highway will also be reduced by more than 50 percent, reducing traffic congestion. The annual pass costs approximately 3,000 rupees, but this pass is only applicable to expressways and highways constructed by the NHAI.
