SBI Card’s new charge structure is a step toward controlling digital transactions, but it could prove to be a burden on ordinary customers. These new rules will come into effect on November 1, 2025.
If you’re an SBI credit card user, this news is extremely important for you. SBI Card, one of the country’s largest credit card networks, has made significant changes to its charges and fee structure. These new rules will come into effect on November 1, 2025. Following this change, you’ll now have to pay an additional 1% charge on certain transactions, which will directly impact your expenses.
Now you will have to pay a charge on education payment
According to SBI’s new circular, if you pay school, college, or other educational institution fees through third-party apps (such as Paytm, PhonePe, or Razorpay), you’ll now incur a 1% transaction fee. However, there’s no additional charge if you pay directly through the institution’s official website or through a POS machine. This means that the method of fee payment will now determine how much money you’ll be out of pocket.
1% charge will also be levied on wallet load
Now, if you add more than ₹1,000 to your digital wallet (such as Paytm, Amazon Pay, or PhonePe Wallet), a 1% fee will apply. For example, if you add ₹2,000 to your wallet, you’ll incur an additional ₹20 charge. According to SBI Card, starting November 1, 2025, a 1% fee will apply to every wallet load transaction above ₹1,000.
