New Rules: A new amended law is being brought by the Government of India. In this, only one document will be required for many tasks and services like admission in educational institutions, getting driving license, applying for Aadhar card or passport and registration of marriage. Now all these documents will be created using only the birth certificate. This new rule will come into effect from October 1.

Parliament had passed the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023 in the last monsoon session. At the same time, President Draupadi Murmu gave his consent to this on 11 August.

According to a notification issued by Registrar General and Census Commissioner Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan, ‘In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 1 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023 (20 of 2023), the Center The government will implement the provisions of the said Act from October 1, 2023.

To whom will these rules apply
Provision for use of birth certificate as a single document to prove the date and place of birth of a person born on or after the date of commencement of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023 being done.

These things will be facilitated
from October 1: admission in schools and colleges, applying for driving license, joining the voter list, applying for Aadhar card or passport, marriage registration, appointment to any post in the central or state government. Birth certificate will also suffice.

This will help in creating a national and state-level database of registered births and deaths which will ultimately ensure efficient and transparent delivery and digital registration of public services and social benefits.
