New Delhi. Under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989, the Government of India has made the PUC (Under Pollution Control) certificate mandatory. Like registration certificate, driving license and insurance policy, this PUC certificate is mandatory for all vehicles, be it a four wheeler or a two wheeler.

PUC certificate is valid for vehicles older than one year. Any new vehicle is exempted from pollution test for one year. Failure to maintain PUC can attract a fine of Rs 10,000. Keeping in mind the importance of this document, we explain how to download the PUC certificate.

What is PUC Certificate?

Vehicles running on petrol or diesel release smoke in the form of burning gases, which include harmful gases like CO2, NOx. It can be harmful for everyone. These centers issue this certificate after testing the vehicle’s emissions and ensuring that these emissions are within acceptable norms specified by the government.

First of all take your car to the nearest PUC center to get checked. The PUC operator will inspect the exhaust pipe and determine the emission level of the vehicle. Pay the PUC center to start the service.
