New Holiday Calendar Released: 50 Holidays Announced, Only 2 Optional Leaves Allowed

School Holidays 2026: The year 2025 is just two months away. The new year begins in January 2026. Next year, government employees will get 31 public holidays and 19 optional holidays.

This means a total of 50 holidays. This holiday calendar has been released by the General Administration Department. It is worth noting that employees will be able to take only two of their 19 optional holidays.

Next year, there are 12 weeks in which employees will get three holidays. Nine holidays have been reduced due to several festivals falling on Saturdays and Sundays. Apart from these holidays, the Collector can declare two public holidays per year in his district. It is worth noting that the Finance Department issues a separate holiday calendar for bank employees.

Makar Sankranti and Basant Panchami Holidays

In January 2026, Makar Sankranti/Magh Bihu/Pongal will be celebrated on January 14, while Basant Panchami will be celebrated on January 23. Apart from this, January 26 is also a public holiday. In February, Guru Ravidas Jayanti is on the 1st, Mahashivratri is on the 15th, Swami Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti is on the 12th and Shivaji Jayanti is on the 19th.

Holi and Diwali holidays

next year, Holika Dahan will be on March 2 and Dhulandi on March 3. This means that the holiday will be on March 3. Apart from this, there are holidays for Ramdev Jayanti and Teja Dashami on September 21, Durga Ashtami on October 19, Diwali on November 8 and Govardhan Puja on November 9.
