Aadhar Card: UIDAI has updated the list of documents required to get Aadhar. If you want to get Aadhar card made or want to get some updates done in it, then first know which documents to take. UIDAI has issued new instructions regarding the documents required for Aadhar card related work. These updates are for the assessment year 2025–26 and apply to both Aadhaar enrollment and updates.

UIDAI released new list of documents

Unique Identification Authority of India i.e. UIDAI has released a new list for the year 2025–26 for getting Aadhar made and updated. The new list tells which documents will now be required for Aadhaar.

For whom are these new rules?

  • Indian citizens
  • Indians living abroad (OCI cardholders)
  • Children above 5 years of age
  • People living in India on long-term visa (LTV)

Which documents are valid?

Indian passport is valid for all four types of proof – proof of identity (ID), address, relationship and date of birth.

Apart from this, these documents can also be useful

  • PAN card
  • Voter ID
  • Ration card
  • Driving license
  • Bank passbook
  • Pension card
  • Any certificate received from the government

Which of these documents to give will depend on what you are updating.

Now only one Aadhaar for one person

UIDAI has clearly stated that if someone has two or more Aadhaar numbers by mistake, then only the first Aadhaar number issued will be valid, and all other Aadhaar numbers will be cancelled.

Different rules for OCI and foreign nationals

Foreign nationals and OCI card holders will have to provide documents like foreign passport, visa, citizenship certificate, or residence permit from FRRO.

Do you want to change your name, gender or date of birth?

If you want to change your name, date of birth or gender in your Aadhaar, then for this you will have to submit self-declaration along with gazette notification, medical certificate or birth certificate. If you are going to do any work related to Aadhaar card, then first go to UIDAI’s website and check this new list. So that your work is done without any problem.
