Mumbai Local Trains: Attention Rail Passengers, Mumbai local trains will remain closed for 27 hours on 2 lines, know the reason for the cancellation of trains

Mumbai Local Trains: A mega block has been announced in Mumbai zone of Central Railway, under which rail traffic will be disrupted for about 27 hours.

Mumbai Local Trains: The Central Railway will conduct a 27-hour mega block to demolish the British-era Carnac Bridge between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Masjid Bunder station in South Mumbai. During this time many Mumbai local trains and express trains of Central and Harbor line will remain cancelled. A large part of the iron bridge has already been demolished, so during the block only the iron structure of the Railway Over Bridge (ROB) will be cut and removed with the help of a road crane. The bridge was built in 1866-67 and the movement of heavy vehicles was stopped only in 2014 after an expert team from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) declared it unsafe in 2018.

Information given by West Central Railway

CPRO of West Central Railway, Rahul Srivastava said that the work of road overbridge between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Masjid station is going to be done in Mumbai, for which special traffic will be organized by Central Railway, Mumbai on 19 and 20 November 2022. And power block is being taken. Due to this some trains are being canceled and some are being short terminated/short originated.

These routes will be affected

The main line (CSMT to Kasara/Khopoli) of the Central Railway route will be blocked between CSMT and Byculla stations for 17 hours. No train will run between CSMT and Byculla station from 4 pm on November 20 till 11 pm on Saturday night. Harbor Line (CSMT-Goregaon/Panvel) will be blocked for 21 hours between CSMT and Wadala stations. No train will run between CSMT and Wadala stations from 8 pm on 20 November till 11 pm on Saturday. Mail-Express yard lines will be made available after 27 hours i.e. on 21st November at 2 am.

The train will go through these routes during the block

For the convenience of passengers, local trains will run between Byculla, Parel, Kurla, Dadar and Thane, Kalyan and Karjat-Kasara stations on the main line, while local trains will run between Wadala to Panvel and Goregaon stations on the Harbor line.
