Jammu: The Modi government has given a big gift to Jammu and Kashmir. The government has announced an economic package of Rs 1,350 crore for Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the decision will help create jobs in the valley. He also said that for a year, the people of the valley will get 50% discount on electricity and water.

‘Benefits to the public’
Briefing the court, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said that an economic package of Rs 1,350 crore has been sanctioned for the business community facing economic problems. Apart from the Self-Reliant India campaign, we have also taken a number of major administrative steps which are going to benefit the people in the coming days.

‘No discrimination’
Lt Governor Sinha said that in view of the problems faced by the people of the state, we had formed the Mir Committee headed by KK Sharma, which met several delegations. Many innovative decisions have been taken in this package. In view of the particular situation here, we have decided to give an interest of 5 cents without any discrimination. Out of this, 950 crore will be directly administered by UT administration.

Mission Prosperous Jammu & Kashmir
He further said that the transport business will also be assisted. Also, a structure will be created for tourism. We want to build a prosperous J&K and move in that direction. Stamp duty has been relaxed till March 2021. Similarly, handloom and handcraft credit card schemes have been enhanced. In addition, JK Bank will launch a separate scheme for young and women enterprises.
