Ministers of 6 non-BJP ruled states reached Supreme Court to postpone NEET and JEE examinations, seeking review on earlier decisions

There is a constant demand to postpone the examination of NEET and JEE and this demand of students has also received support from opposition parties. At the same time, six ministers from non-BJP ruled states have moved the Supreme Court. The petition requested the Supreme Court to reconsider its order allowing the Center to conduct NEET, JEE examinations this year.



On the other hand, preparations for organizing JEE and NEET have been expedited by the National Testing Agency (NTA) amidst opposition from political parties. By Wednesday evening, about 14 lakh candidates out of 23 lakh JEE-NEET have also downloaded it. NTA chairman Vineet Joshi said that it shows that the children are eagerly awaiting the exam.

After West Bengal and Congress-ruled states, now the Odisha government is also in favor of postponing the examination of NEET and JEE. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has spoken to Narendra Modi over phone and requested to postpone these exams. On Wednesday, a meeting was held with the Chief Ministers of non-BJP ruled states led by Sonia Gandhi. According to ANI, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik held a phone conversation with Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, CM Patnaik requested PM Modi to postpone the examination of NEET and JEE in view of the situation of corona virus and floods in many parts of the state.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh also supported it and said that corona virus cases may increase in September, how can examinations be conducted in such a situation?

Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray questioned that today corona virus infection is spreading and the crisis has increased so how can the examinations be taken? Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy also advocated postponement of these examinations and agreed with the idea of ​​moving the court against the decision of the central government.



Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia requested the Central Government to work on an alternative method for the selection of students, demanding the postponement of NEET and JEE examinations. Sisodia said, “Despite all the precautionary measures, many top leaders have been in the grip of infection. So how can we take the risk of sending 28 lakh students to the examination center and ensure that they will not fall prey to it?



DMK chief MK Stalin demanded postponement of these examinations, saying that the Tamil Nadu government should approach the Supreme Court on the issue. Significantly, the officials of the Ministry of Education said on Tuesday that the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) will be conducted in September only as per the schedule.
