LPG Price Changed : New rates of LPG gas cylinders implemented across the country, See new rate here

Discussions are still going on regarding subsidy beyond buying LPG cylinders. Gas subsidy is being given in many places but in many places subsidy is not being given for many months. Families in India are allowed to buy a maximum of 12 LPG cylinders per year at subsidized rates.

But the price of cooking gas has remained below Rs 10 per 14.2 kg LPG cylinder from May to July due to favorable international oil prices amid the coronavirus pandemic. During this period, consumers have not received any subsidy for their purchases.

Between July 2019 and July 2020, the rates of 14.2 kg subsidized LPG cylinder have been increased by Rs 100. These LPG rates are usually revised at the beginning of every month based on changes in international oil prices and the valuation of the Indian rupee against the US dollar.

After the corona epidemic, the government is giving three free LPG cylinders to all the families below the poverty line, but this facility is only for the customers of Ujjwala scheme. While the rest of the customers are not getting any subsidy.

With the steady rise in the price of subsidized LPG and fall in global oil and product prices, the government has completely waived off its oil subsidy burden on account of LPG from May this year. Oil prices are expected to close.

The government has allocated Rs 37,256.21 crore as LPG subsidy for the current financial year. But so far, the government has had to withdraw very little money from the subsidy provisions and the savings have reportedly been spent on other welfare activities.
