New Delhi. Since the announcement of subsidy on cooking gas by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 21, there has been confusion about its beneficiaries. This confusion has now been cleared by Oil Secretary Pankaj Jain. Jain has made it clear that the government will not put the subsidy in the accounts of all LPG users, which was announced by the Finance Minister to give a subsidy of Rs 200 on LPG.

moneycontrol.com According to a report, the Union Oil Secretary has said that a subsidy of Rs 200 will be provided only to the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Ujjwala Yojana. Rest of the people will have to buy Rasoi gas cylinder at market price only. On May 21, Finance Minister Sitharaman had announced to reduce the excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per liter and on diesel by Rs 6 per liter with the intention of reducing inflation. Along with this, he also announced a subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder for 12 cylinders in a year to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme.

Subsidy is closed from June 2020

Pankaj Jain said that the government is not giving any subsidy on LPG since June 2020. Now only that subsidy is being given which has been announced by the Finance Minister. Nirmala Sitharaman Did it on 21st May. He said that since the beginning of the Kovid-19 epidemic, there is no provision of subsidy for LPG customers.

Cylinder rate in Delhi is Rs 1,003

The cost of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in the capital Delhi is Rs 1,003. Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will get a subsidy of Rs 200 directly in their bank account. With this, they will have to spend only 803 rupees from their pocket to buy this cylinder. For the rest, its price in Delhi will be Rs 1,003. Giving gas subsidy of Rs 200 to Ujjwala beneficiaries will cost the exchequer Rs 6,100 crore. According to a report, there are about 30.5 crore LPG connections in the country at present. Out of this, the government has provided 9 crore connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
