So, the answer to the questions arising in people’s minds is that the GST reform will not affect the price of LPG gas cylinders. The Modi government has not made any changes to the GST rate on LPG gas cylinders. Domestic LPG gas cylinders and commercial LPG gas cylinders are subject to different GST rates. It should be noted that domestic LPG cylinders are charged 5 percent GST, while commercial LPG cylinders are charged 18 percent GST.

What are the rates of LPG cylinders today on 22nd September?

Commercial LPG Cylinder: 19 kg LPG cylinder is available today at Rs 1580 in Delhi, Rs 1684 in Kolkata, Rs 1531.50 in Mumbai and Rs 1738 in Chennai.

Domestic LPG cylinders: Based on data from Indian Oil, LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) prices in India, a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder is currently available for ₹853 in Delhi, ₹852.50 in Mumbai, and ₹890.50 in Lucknow. Meanwhile, it costs ₹985.5 in Kargil, ₹969 in Pulwama, and ₹890.5 in Bageshwar. In Patna, it costs ₹951.

How is the price of LPG determined?

Prices are based on the ‘Import Parity Price’ (IPP), which includes international prices, dollar-rupee exchange rates, freight, taxes, etc. Prices vary across states due to state-specific taxes and logistics costs.

Subsidies and Consumer Impact: Government subsidies, such as the Ujjwala Yojana, reduce actual spending for eligible consumers. Subsidies are directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
