New Delhi . After the prices of petrol and diesel, now the common man has also got a big blow from LPG cylinder. There has been a huge increase in the prices of LPG Commercial Cylinders. Commercial cylinders became costlier by Rs 266 from today. The price of 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi will be Rs 2000.50 from today which was Rs 1734 earlier. No hike in domestic LPG cylinders.

After this increase, the price of commercial cylinder in Delhi went beyond Rs 2,000. Earlier it was being sold for Rs 1,733. A 19 kg commercial cylinder in Mumbai, which used to be sold for Rs 1,683, has now gone up to Rs 1,950 after today’s hike. The price of 19 kg commercial cylinder in Kolkata has now increased to Rs 2,073.50 and in Chennai the price of this product has increased to Rs 2,133.

No change for home use
No change was observed in the price of LPG cylinders intended for domestic use. In the national capital Delhi, a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder without subsidy is being sold for Rs 899.50. It is worth noting that the prices of domestic LPG were increased on 6 October. The price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in Kolkata is Rs 926 while in Chennai it costs Rs 915.50.

In view of the rising crude oil prices, it is expected that the prices of domestic LPG cylinders may soon cross the Rs 1,000 mark. So far this year, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders have increased from Rs 694 in January to Rs 899.50, which is increasing for eight consecutive times.

Crude oil prices rise
The two main factors that determine LPG cylinder prices in India are the global crude oil prices and the dollar-rupee exchange rate as the crude oil prices are denominated in US dollars. Brent crude prices are now trading near $84 a barrel, while the dollar-rupee exchange rate closed at 74.88 points on Friday, putting pressure on LPG prices.

As per the existing rules, households are eligible to get 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg each at subsidized rates. Any quantity in excess of this is to be purchased at market price or at non-subsidised rates.
