Liquor Shop Closed: A dry day has been declared for voting and counting in this city. All liquor shops will remain closed on this day.



Liquor shops will remain closed in Indore from 6 pm today till the end of voting on November 17 and for the entire day on December 3, the day of counting. A dry day has been declared for voting and counting in Indore. All liquor shops will remain closed on this day. In this regard, as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Ilaiyaraaja T has issued orders. He has given instructions for effective implementation of this order.

According to the order issued, there will be a dry period/day in the district from 48 hours before the voting of Assembly Elections 2023 i.e. from 6 pm on 15th November 2023 till the end of voting on 17th November 2023 and for the entire day on 03rd December, the day of counting of votes. During this period, orders have been given to close all composite liquor shops, restaurants, wine retail outlets, FLAPC and domestic/foreign liquor stores in Indore district. During this period, selling/serving liquor to anyone in liquor shops, hotels, restaurants, clubs and other selling/serving points etc. will be completely prohibited.

783 liters of illicit liquor seized in raids at 69 places

During the assembly elections in Indore district, excise staff is continuously monitoring hotels, dhabas, residential houses, grocery shops and liquor shops. Strict action is being taken against illegal liquor smugglers and those who sell and collect illegal liquor. In this connection, under the direction of Collector Dr. Ilaiyaraaja T, raids were conducted at a total of 69 places in different areas of the district last day and 68 cases were registered under various sections of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act. In these cases, 783 liters of illicit liquor and 2256 liters of Mahua Lahan were seized. The total value of all the seized material is Rs 4 lakh 26 thousand 150.

Liquor was hidden in the bushes on the railway tracks

Assistant Commissioner of Excise Department, Manish Khare said that on the basis of information received during patrolling, 198 cans of 500ml (total 99 bulk liters) of stock beer were kept hidden in the bushes next to the railway track near Kesharbagh Bridge, covered with plastic polythene. Recovered and confiscated. Since no one was present nearby, a case was registered against the unknown accused under the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act and taken up for investigation. The search for the accused is ongoing. This type of action will continue by the Excise Department. Besides, the department is also continuously monitoring the liquor shops of the district.
