Liquor Price Hike: Those fond of liquor will have to pay more from November 1, because the government has increased the VAT on liquor service in bars and clubs.

Now from November 1, 5 percent extra VAT will have to be paid on drinking alcohol in clubs, lounges and bars, that is, a total of 10 percent VAT will have to be paid. This increase has been done by the Maharashtra government and drinking alcohol has been made expensive from bars to clubs in Mumbai.

There is no charge for non-counter sale. Shahra will be sold only at the price before non-counter sale. According to the report of Times of India, there is no increase for star hotels because they are already paying 20 percent VAT.

Before the increase in VAT, the government had recently increased the license fees. These increases will have a direct impact on customers.

It is noteworthy that the price of liquor has been reduced in cities like Goa, Chandigarh and Haryana. At the same time, Maharashtra government has increased the VAT.

According to TOI, the decision to increase VAT may result in consumers opting for less expensive off-premise options, which include places like building rooftops, parks, beaches or on parked cars.

On the other hand, according to media reports, the state government is considering implementing a new excise policy.
