Now, like the capital of the country, New Delhi, the way has been cleared for the availability of cheap liquor in Uttar Pradesh too. Cheap liquor of premium brands is going to be available in UP.
This will give maximum relief especially to the people of those areas who live in Noida or Ghaziabad adjacent to Delhi. The people of Noida and Ghaziabad, which fall in the Delhi-NCR region, had to travel to Delhi to buy cheap liquor. Because of which these people also had to face a lot of problems. But now there is hope of getting relief to the people due to the availability of cheap liquor in UP itself.
Liquor of premium brands became cheaper
The talks between the Uttar Pradesh government and the liquor companies regarding the reduction in the price of liquor in UP have yielded positive results. In the next few days, cheap liquor will be available in the state. According to media reports, many liquor makers have reduced the MRP on 36 premium brands. These brands include the names of alcohol brands such as Glenlivet, Chivas Regal, Jameson, Ballantine, Aberlour and Absolute Vodka.

After reviewing the price structure of foreign brands in UP, the excise department found that it is priced higher in the state than in Delhi. Imported brands are priced on the basis of cost, insurance and freight. Custom tariff is levied on it after the basic lending cost. After this the state imposes excise duty on the production of liquor. Before fixing the MRP of liquor, companies also add their profits to it.
The excise department of UP found that despite a similar duty structure in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, the price of liquor is higher in UP as compared to Delhi. After this, the companies making liquor were asked to bring down the prices in Uttar Pradesh to bring them at par with Delhi. In this way, now the price of branded liquor in UP will be equal to that of Delhi.
