Poshan Abhiyaan September 2020:– With an aim to make India malnutrition free by 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Samagra Poshan Abhiyaan Scheme. All states, districts and towns will be covered under the central government’s flagship PM Modi Poshan Abhiyan. The tagline of this PM Poshan Abhiyan is The Perfect Potation Desh Roshan (Sahi Poshan Desh Roshan) . The objective of the programme is to provide adequate nutrition to infants, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

Potion Month has been launched to identify SAM children in all districts and provide them care and nutrition in a targeted manner. Poshan Abhiyan is India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers. This is done by leverage technique, a targeted approach and convergence.



The Union Government wants to connect a large number of people with poshan abhiyan to turn it into jan yansad. Poshan Yojana Scheme was launched on 8th March 2018 with an overall budget of Rs 9046 crore for 3 years. Over 10 crore people will benefit from the scheme extended till March 31, 2021.

What is Poshan Abhiyaan September 2020
Poshan Abhiyan (National Nutrition Mission) is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The mission aims to improve the nutritional status of children from adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers to 0-6 years during the next three years starting from 2017-18.



The campaign aims to achieve convergence with various programmes i.e. Anganwadi Services, Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana, Scheme for Adolescent Girls, Janani Suraksha Yojana, National Health Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, Public Distribution System, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Current policies are primarily focused on expectant mothers and breastfeeding children, but the government also needs to think about how to provide nutrition to growing children. He said UNICEF will continue to work with the government on initiatives such as Swachh Bharat, Mission Indradhanush, immunization policies and potion campaign.

Nutrition Month:-
The primary objective of Nutrition Month is to spread awareness about the importance of nutrition and help families easily access government services to supplement nutrition for their children and pregnant or lactating mothers.



National Nutrition Month is being organised to eradicate malnutrition from the country, let us all work together to make it a success by taking this campaign forward. Nutrition Month begins on September 7, 2020. Pm urged people to launch efforts to reach the corners of India and spread awareness for eradication of malnutrition.
