Haryana’s BJP government’s flagship “Lado Laxmi Yojana” is soon set to undergo a major overhaul. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced at an event in Hisar that the ₹2,100 monthly payment previously given to women under the scheme will now be distributed in installments twice a year. The goal of this change is to provide women with a larger lump sum, allowing them to better utilize it for major expenses or savings.
Why did you make this change?
The small sum of ₹2,100 a month is often spent on daily expenses, preventing women from making optimal use of the funds. The government believes that when the amount is collected twice a year, women can invest it in a larger project, their children’s education, or a small business.

Beneficiaries and additional facilities of the scheme
The Lado Laxmi Scheme is offered to eligible women in Haryana between the ages of 23 and 60. Beneficiary women must have resided permanently in the state for at least 15 years. Women already receiving benefits from other pension schemes are not eligible for this scheme. Women suffering from serious illnesses also receive additional assistance.
Simplicity and transparency of the scheme
The money is transferred directly to women’s bank accounts through DBT. To make the scheme digital, e-KYC and live photo verification of all beneficiaries have been made mandatory, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the process.
Expectation and closure
This change will not only empower women financially but also enhance their savings and investment capabilities. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has stated that the government will soon grant cabinet approval to this new system and implement it. This initiative is expected to bring positive changes to the lives of millions of women.
