Ladki Bahin Yojana new rule: The Maharashtra government has set new rules for the Ladki Bahin Yojana. Women must complete e-KYC on their accounts within the next two months, or their monthly ₹ 1,500 will be withheld. This step was taken after 2.6 million fake beneficiaries were discovered.

The Maharashtra government’s Chief Minister’s Ladki Bahin Yojana has provided financial assistance to many women. The scheme’s purpose was to provide direct assistance to economically disadvantaged women so they could more easily meet their expenses. Under the scheme, women between the ages of 21 and 65 receive a monthly ₹ 1,500 transfer into their bank accounts. However, the government has now implemented a new rule to ensure this facility continues.

E-KYC is now mandatory (Ladki Bahin Yojana e-KYC update)

According to a government order (GR) issued on Thursday, every woman benefiting from the scheme will now be required to complete e-KYC. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare stated that e-KYC must be completed within two months, only then will the money continue to flow into bank accounts. The government has launched a dedicated website for this purpose: ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in.

How to do e-KYC? (Ladki Bahin Yojana e-KYC process)

It is very easy to do e-KYC:

  • Visit the website – ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in
  • Click on the e-KYC option on the homepage.
  • Upload the required documents like name, address, ration card number, income details and Aadhar card.
  • After submitting the process will be completed.

Why is e-KYC necessary?

In fact, the government recently discovered that approximately 26.34 lakh fake beneficiaries, including men, were taking advantage of the scheme. Following the discovery of these irregularities, the government mandated e-KYC for transparency. Currently, 2.25 crore women are receiving  1,500 per month under this scheme.

The process will have to be repeated every year

The government has stated that beneficiaries must complete this e-KYC process annually, not just once. If Aadhaar authentication or document uploading is not correct, the funds will be withheld.
