ITR Filing 2025: The work of filing Income Tax Return (ITR) has started. Now taxpayers can file their returns online for the assessment year 2025-26 by filling ITR-1 and ITR-4 forms through the e-filing portal. However, salaried people will be able to file their returns only after receiving Form-16 from the company. Taxpayers will have to use some ITR form to file returns. People doing jobs use ITR Form 1 the most. This form is also called Sahaj Form.

Know what is Sahaj form

ITR-1 is also called Sahaj form, which is not for everyone. If your annual income is less than Rs 50 lakh. Along with this, the main source of income is salary, pension, rent from one house, interest on money deposited in the bank and income from farming up to Rs 5,000, then only you can fill the ITR-1 form. Those earning long term capital gain up to 1.25 lakh can also fill this form. Capital gain means income from the sale of stock market, mutual funds or any digital assets.

This is a single page form, specially designed for such individuals whose sources of income are limited. Under the recent changes, now such small investors can also file ITR-1. Whose LTCG is less than Rs 1.25 lakh. Earlier they had to fill ITR-2.

How to fill the form easily?

1 – First of all visit the Income Tax e-filing portal.

2 – Login or create a new account.

3 – e-File > Income Tax Returns > File Income Tax Return पर जाएं

4 – Select AY 2025-26 and Filing Mode ‘Online’.

5 – Click on ‘Start New Filing’.

6 – Select Status – Individual or HUF

7 – Select ITR-1 form.

8 – Then click on ‘Let’s Get Started’.

9 – Select the reason for filing – like ‘Original’ or ‘Revised Return’

10 – Then fill in other personal information as required.

After filling the form, check all the details carefully, do the validation, and finally do the e-verification – OTP or Aadhaar based. Your return will be submitted.
