Train Ticket Booking: Indian Railways has made a big change in the rules of online ticket booking system. This change made by the Railways will come into effect from October 1, 2025.
According to the new change of Railways, now from October 1, 2025, whenever the general ticket booking of any train starts, only those passengers whose Aadhaar authentication has been done will be able to book tickets for the first 15 minutes. This rule will be applicable on both IRCTC website and mobile app. According to the Railways, this step will benefit the real passengers and will stop the irregularities in ticket booking by fake or unauthorized people.
Passengers will get facility
The Railway Ministry has made it clear that the rules for getting general reservation tickets from the PRS counter will remain the same as before, there will be no change in them. Also, the restriction on authorized railway agents not to make bookings for the first 10 minutes after the ticket is opened will continue as before. The railway believes that the new system will make the ticket booking process more transparent and the interference of brokers will be reduced. This will also give ordinary passengers a better chance of getting a seat.
These rules came into effect on July 1
Indian Railways had recently made Aadhaar verification mandatory for Tatkal ticket booking as well. Under this rule, which will come into effect from July 1, 2025, now passengers can get Tatkal tickets only from IRCTC website or mobile app and for this they need to get Aadhaar verification done. A few months after this change, the same rule is now being implemented in general ticket booking as well. Indian Railways has also imposed special restrictions on Tatkal booking for authorized ticket agents. According to the rules, agents cannot take Tatkal tickets for the first 30 minutes of booking opening.
