You get many types of insurance. For this you also pay premium. But sometimes due to some special reasons, the insurance claim made by you gets rejected by your insurance company. In such a situation, a problem arises in front of you. Let us know about it in detail.

According to the rules of insurance regulator IRDAI, companies have their own policies regarding insurance claims, on the basis of which they settle or reject the claim. Now, let us assume that you are making the claim fulfilling the conditions as per your requirement but if the company rejects it, then you can complain about it.


Where can I complain?

If you are not satisfied with the response given by the insurance company when you make a claim, then you have many options to complain. You can directly lodge your complaint on the online portal of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). This platform is known as ‘Bima Bharosa System’. According to Live Mint news, you can also make your complaint through email id complaints@irdai.gov.in.

Complaint option through toll free number

If you want, you can register your complaint by dialing 155255 or 1800 4254 732. Additionally, you can file a complaint with the Insurance Ombudsman within one year from the date of rejection by the insurance company. You can register your complaint online at https://www.cioins.co.in or you can also register your complaint offline by visiting your nearest Lokpal office.

There is an option in consumer court also

You can also take the case of insurance claim rejection to the consumer court. You can complain about the claim of less money in the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum. Here you can either lodge a complaint (Insurance claim) online or write a complaint. Keep in mind that all the necessary documents must be attached to the complaint. You will also have to file an affidavit in the court that all the facts and statements presented by you are true and correct. Consumer Forum can charge Rs 100 to Rs 5,000 for its hearing.
