Instagram New Feature: Meta’s company Instagram has launched a brand new feature that users have been demanding for a long time: Reels Watch History. This update will now allow you to rewatch short videos you’ve already watched, eliminating the hassle of searching for a Reel you forgot to like or save.
The announcement was made by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who shared on his broadcast channel that the Watch History feature is now live for many users around the world, including India. This change is expected to make content discovery easier and the Reels experience even more user-friendly. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
What is the Instagram Watch History feature?
Until now, the social media platform didn’t offer an easy way to find Reels you’ve previously watched, unless you remembered to like, comment on, or share them. But with this new update, Instagram has finally introduced a new Watch History section, similar to what platforms like YouTube have offered for years. This section lets you see all the Reels you’ve previously watched, along with the option to sort or filter them. According to Mosseri, users can sort videos by date, from oldest to newest, or vice versa, and even filter by a specific date range or creator.
How to view Instagram Watch History?
Viewing your Reels Watch History on Instagram is very easy. Just follow the steps below:
- Go to your Instagram profile.
- Tap the three-line menu in the top right.
- Select the Settings option.
- Go to Your Activity.
- Tap Watch History.
- From there, you’ll be able to see your recently viewed Reels, along with sorting and filtering tools to make browsing easier.
While it may take a few days for the feature to reach everyone, users in many countries, including India, are already seeing it after updating their apps to the new version.
