IndiGo & DigiYatra New Initiative: IndiGo and DigiYatra have launched a new digital integration to make air travel more user-friendly, paperless, and stress-free. Passengers’ faces will now be their boarding passes, saving time at the airport.
To make air travel easy, smart, and stress-free, IndiGo Airlines and DigiYatra have launched a new digital integration. This integration will make airport travel completely contactless and paperless. Users checking in online on the IndiGo app will no longer need to scan a QR code or show a boarding pass. Simply click the “Share with DigiYatra” button on the IndiGo app, and your boarding pass will be linked directly to your DigiYatra app.
According to IndiGo, Digi Yatra is a self-sovereign identity (SSI)-based ecosystem that uses face recognition technology to provide passengers with a seamless and secure travel experience. This means there’s no need to show any paper or pass at entry gates, security checks, or boarding gates. Your face will now serve as your boarding pass and identity card. The airline has assured passengers that their privacy is prioritized in this system. All data transactions are conducted offline, directly linked to the user’s phone.
The system does not
include any server or cloud storage, ensuring complete security for passenger data. Furthermore, user consent is required at every step. This means no information will be shared without your consent. The DigiYatra platform will only share the information necessary for verification with airport authorities.
Suresh Kumar, CEO of Digi Yatra Foundation, said that the partnership between IndiGo and Digi Yatra will be a major step towards India’s digital transformation. He added, “Our goal is to ensure hassle-free travel for passengers, eliminating long queues at airports and the hassle of document management. This integration with IndiGo will provide passengers with a fast, secure, and paperless experience. As more airlines and airports join forces, the country will enter a true digital aviation era.”
DigiYatra is available at these airports.
According to DigiYatra, DigiYatra gates are already operational at major airports like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. With the addition of a major airline like IndiGo, its usage is expected to accelerate. Passengers will not only experience reduced travel time, but the overall experience will be modern and smart. This technology integration will not only accelerate the pace of digitization in the air travel sector but will also enhance the passenger experience.
