Cyclone Michaung Updates, Flights cancelled: Cyclonic storm Michaung has disrupted life in Chennai. Because of this Chennai airport had to be closed.
Cyclone Michaung: Cyclonic storm Michaung has started having a tremendous impact in the states of South India. The maximum impact of this cyclonic storm has been seen in Chennai. According to NDTP report, more than one thousand flights connecting Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, had to be cancelled. The reason for this is that due to the heavy rains caused by cyclonic storm Michong, the city’s airport had to be completely closed.
Indigo has canceled 550 flights so far, while Vistara Airlines has canceled 10 flights since yesterday. Even though the rain has stopped in Chennai, the water accumulated due to the rain is still not able to come out. Due to this, flood like situation has arisen in the city. Cyclonic storm Michong is also slowly moving towards Andhra Pradesh. Due to this, heavy rains have started in Andhra Pradesh.
City submerged due to rain
Chennai Airport had closed its runway for departures and arrivals yesterday due to bad weather. Indigo resumed its flights from Chennai around noon. Due to Cyclone Michong, there was heavy torrential rain in Chennai since Sunday night, due to which the city was submerged. Trains and flights were cancelled. The cyclone is likely to hit Andhra Pradesh soon. Visakhapatnam airport is currently closed.
