IndiGo Airlines: India’s budget airline company Indigo has placed the biggest order in the country’s aviation history. The company has said that soon it will include 500 Neo aircraft in its fleet. This order is bigger than the order of 470 aircraft given by Air India this year.

New Delhi. India’s largest and budget airline company Indigo (IndiGo) has placed the biggest order in the history of the country. The company announced on Monday that it would add 500 planes to its fleet. These aircraft will belong to the Airbus Neo family. Earlier, Air India had placed the biggest order in Indian history. Air India had also placed an order for 470 aircraft in 2023 itself.

Indian budget airline Indigo has made this announcement during the ongoing air show in Paris. The company has said that by ordering aircraft with Neo family engines, it is going to increase its fleet soon. These aircraft will be supplied to the company from 2030 to 2035.

More records of the company

It is not that Indigo has created a record in Indian aviation history only by ordering 500 aircraft. The company has also signed the biggest deal with Airbus so far. Indigo has said in its statement that the engine of the aircraft has not been finalized yet. But it is believed that it will be a mix order of A320 and A321 category engines. This order will soon be evaluated in the company’s board meeting.

How much will it cost

Peter Elber, CEO of Indigo, says that this order is being bought on a low price base. About $ 55 billion (about Rs 4.50 lakh crore) will be spent on this. Apart from this, the company has also placed orders for several aircraft. The company says that by the year 2035, 1000 more aircraft will be added to it. At present, Indigo alone operates 60 percent of the total flights in India.

how big is the fleet now

Indigo currently has 300 aircraft, while within the next decade, there will be 480 aircraft after more orders. In this way, a total order of 1000 aircraft will be completed in the next decade. Airbus’s A320 category of aircraft holds special importance in the company’s strategic stake.
