The festival of Chhath Puja is about to come. On this special occasion, people living in Bihar, Jharkhand and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, who live in different states of the country due to job etc., they definitely go to their respective homes.

Especially if we talk about Delhi, then there is a huge crowd of passengers at the station. Many people make reservations well in advance, so that they do not have to wander for a seat in the train on the occasion of Chhath. However, there are many people who do not get tickets. In such a situation, people look for other options, so that they can reach home. So let us tell you today about a special facility of Indian Railways, with the help of which not only the ticket but also the chances of getting a confirmed seat increases. Actually, railways has been providing this facility to the passengers for a long time, about which very few people would know.

The name of this special facility of Indian Railways is ‘Vikalp’. A large number of passengers get the benefit of this scheme of railways. If you are also worried about train ticket and confirmed seat then do not panic, you can opt for Vikalp scheme. This increases the chances of getting the ticket confirmed.

Suppose you have taken a waiting ticket in a train, it is not getting confirmed and you have selected ‘Vikalp’ then your berth can be confirmed in alternate trains. However, opting for the option does not mean that a confirmed seat will be available to the passenger in the alternate train. It depends on the train and seat availability.

According to IRCTC, you will be transferred to the available alternate train within 72 hours from the scheduled departure time of the original train in which you have booked. In this plan your boarding and end station may change to nearby cluster stations.

The special thing is that the passenger who has been given the facility in the alternate train can travel comfortably on the right of the original ticket of the original train. Therefore, passengers opting for Vikalp scheme must check the PNR after chart preparation.
