Indian Railway Concession For Senior Citizen: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman (FM Nirmala Sitharaman) presented the budget in Parliament on Wednesday, in which many big announcements were made. In this budget, the Central Government has opened the treasury for the Railways. Railways have been allocated 9 times more funds. In the midst of all this, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has made a big announcement for the general public, which is going to benefit crores of passengers of the country. Along with this, the Railway Minister has also made a big disclosure on the exemption given to senior citizens rail fare.

Let us tell you that before Corona, crores of senior citizens of the country were given exemption in railway fare from the Railways, but after the budget, the Railway Minister has given a lot of information on this. This time the passengers expected that once again the exemption in railway fare would be restored in the budget, although this has not happened.

People above 60 years of age used to get benefit

Before the Corona epidemic, senior citizens across the country were given exemption in fare from the Railways, but it was discontinued after the Corona epidemic in the year 2020. Earlier people above 60 years of age used to get the benefit of this.

Passengers expected

Let us tell you that women across the country used to get 50 percent discount. At the same time, men used to get the benefit of 40 per cent discount. After the Corona epidemic, when the conditions became normal, everyone expected that the Railways would restore the fare exemption again, but this has not happened.

53 percent discount is available

According to the information received from the Ministry of Railways, all the citizens traveling in the train get an average discount of 53 percent on the fare. Along with this, Divyangjans, students and patients get many types of concessions apart from this exemption.

In the last 8 years, a lot of work has been done on the railways.

In this budget, a fund of Rs 2.40 lakh crore was announced for the Railways. Ashwini Vaishnav thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the budget. He said that this time there has been a record allocation of funds for the Railways. Talking about the tenure of the BJP since coming to power at the Center till now, he said that a lot of work has been done on the Railways in the last eight years.

Know what is the next plan?

Ashwini Vaishnav said that Vande Metro is being designed for regional areas. By the middle of this year, the complete blueprint for Vande Metro trains will be drawn. He said that hydrogen trains are being developed according to green growth. This work will also be completed by December 2023. The special thing is that hydrogen trains will be designed and made in India as well. There are only three countries in the world which are running hydrogen trains. India will be the fourth country.
