According to the Railway Property Act 1966, (Railway Property Act, 1966), if you steal or take any goods kept in the train, then in the first instance there can be a jail term of one year or a fine of one thousand rupees. If caught for the second time, a jail term of two years and a fine of two thousand rupees can be imposed.

The report is issued by the Railways

If a person does this work repeatedly, he can be imprisoned for up to 5 years along with fine. This action is taken under sections 378 and 403 of the IPC. Reports on this are being issued to different zones of the Railways. In these reports, it is told how the passengers traveling by train take bed sheets, towels etc. with them after the completion of the journey.
