Travel in general compartment without reservation

Explain that due to the lockdown at the time of Covid, passenger trains could not operate for a long time. Later, it was made mandatory to make reservations in general coaches of trains to maintain social distancing when railway activity resumed.

Due to which the passengers traveling daily were facing a lot of problems. In view of the problems being faced by the passengers, now the Railways has once again done away with the compulsion to make reservations in general coaches.

Both railways and passengers are benefiting

Let us tell you that along with the passengers, the railways are also benefiting from this decision of the railways. Now passengers can go to the station as before and travel with a general ticket from the window.

Keep these things in mind while buying tickets

To buy a general ticket, you can go to the railway station and take a general ticket from the ticket window or vending machine. Apart from this, you can also buy train tickets from IRCTC’s UTS mobile app.

Also, buy tickets only by telling the name of the train in which you want to travel. Because if you have taken a passenger train, express train or mail train ticket and you are traveling in a superfast train then you will have to face troubles and you may also be fined.
