Indian Railways: Passengers travelling in trains will soon be able to enjoy food from major food brands at railway stations. Yes, Indian Railways has given permission to set up small stalls of Haldiram, McDonald’s, KFC and many other major food brands at some selected railway stations.

Railways has approved the policy of a new category of food stalls at stations, ‘Premium Brand Catering Outlets’. However, such food stalls will be started at only a few railway stations for now. According to a report in Mid-Day, these stalls of big food brands will be set up on the new elevated decks being constructed at Khar, Kandivali and many other suburban railway stations in Mumbai.

Products of Haldiram, McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, Pizza Hut will be available at the railway station

Indian Railways has approved the “Premium Brand Catering Outlets” policy, aimed at enhancing the convenience of passengers and enhancing their dining and dining experience. Under the “Premium Brand Catering Outlets” category, major food brands such as Haldiram’s, McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, Pizza Hut, Domino’s, etc. will be able to set up stalls in railway station buildings and platforms to sell food and beverages to passengers. This decision by the Railways will not only provide passengers with a variety of dining options but will also provide food brands with an opportunity to set up their own businesses within railway station premises, where sales are expected to be significantly higher than outlets elsewhere.

Outlets will not be allotted on the basis of nomination.

According to a Mid-Day report, the Railway Board has clarified that these outlets will not be allotted based on nominations. This move by the Railways formally adds a fourth category to the Catering Policy 2017. Previously, stalls were classified into tea/biscuit/snack stalls, milk booths, and juice and fresh fruit counters. The new Premium Brand Catering Outlet category is specifically for large-scale branded food chains.
